About Instructor

Nara Lee

Nara, born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, has dedicated most of her life to practicing and teaching classical music. She graduated from a music college with a major in classical music composition and received a full scholarship at one of Korea's top universities. During her college years, she studied as an exchange student at Syracuse University in the U.S. At her family's suggestion, she also pursued a modeling career and won first place in the Elite Model competition. While in her early twenties, she balanced her studies with her work as a runway model. To maintain her physique, Nara embraced Pilates and obtained her first Pilates certification from the Korea International Pilates Association in South Korea.

In 2012, Nara moved to the U.S. after completing her college education. She started her career as a private piano teacher at Frisco ISD but eventually transitioned from teaching music to teaching Pilates as her son grew up. She earned her second Pilates license from Peak Pilates, one of the world-renowned Pilates certificates. Nara found joy and passion in Pilates and it became her most gratifying pursuit after music. She gained diverse work experiences at multiple Pilates studios, including Club Pilates, LifeTime Fitness, Equinox Fitness, and others, expanding her knowledge of different Pilates methodologies through her training at each location.

In addition to her music and Pilates background, Nara pursued a major in Nursing Science at the University of Texas in Arlington and is currently on hiatus from her studies. This gives her a deep understanding of human anatomy and physiology.

Two years ago, Nara reconnected with a U.S.-based modeling agency and resumed her modeling career while continuing her work in Pilates.

General benefits from Pilates

Increases Core Strength

Improves flexibility and mobility

Increases Core Strength

Pilates is famously known for its emphasis on the core — the center of the body from which all movement stems. The core is all of the surrounding muscles of the trunk that when strengthened and pliable, support and stabilize the body.

Prevents Injuries

Improves flexibility and mobility

Increases Core Strength

Pilates balances the muscles of the Body so that they are neither loose and weak nor tight and rigid. Muscles that are too loose and weak or too tight and rigid can make the body more susceptible to injury.

Improves flexibility and mobility

A Pilates practice keeps moving with smooth transitions between precise and slow, controlled movements. Instead of stretching after a strengthening exercise, most Pilates exercises are a combination of the two, which improves strength, flexibility, and mobility

Improves cognitive functioning

Increase strength and Tone the Body

Improves flexibility and mobility

Studies have shown improved cognitive functioning after Pilates training.

Several markers were assessed, such as new neuron development, blood flow to the brain, increased neurotransmitters, and longevity of neurons responsible for learning, memory, and executive thinking

Increase strength and Tone the Body

Increase strength and Tone the Body

Increase strength and Tone the Body

Increased muscle strength is one of the benefits of Pilates. Pilates exercises often included gravity resistance and controlled movement, creating muscle contraction due to the muscle extending under tension

Supports Mental Health

Pilates is a workout that can increase your mood and promote a positive mindset. The breathing involved in workouts such as Pilates and yoga has been found to reduce stress levels.

Additionally, Physical activity causes your brain to release endorphins, which can improve our mood. Scientists believe this brings about a better sense of confidence and self-control.
